Drone spotted over Indian high commission in Islamabad, India registers protest | India News

NEW DELHI: India has registered a strong protest with Pakistan foreign office after a drone was spotted hovering over the Indian high commission in Islamabad.
There is no official comment on the incident yet.
The incident came to light amid growing concerns in the security establishment in India after explosives-laden drones were used to carry out an attack on the Jammu Air Force station on June 27.
According to security officials, it was the first instance of suspected Pakistan-based terrorists deploying unmanned aerial vehicles to strike at vital installations in India.

The explosions took place around 1.40 am within six minutes of each other. The first blast ripped off the roof of a single-storey building at the technical area of the airport manned by the IAF in Satwari area on the outskirts of the city. The second one was on the ground.
Officials have also said the explosive material dropped by the drones might have been manufactured using a cocktail consisting of RDX, but a final confirmation was still awaited.

The NIA has taken over the charge of the investigation into the incident.
The drones that dropped the explosives were either flown back across the border or to some other destination during the night, they suspect.
The aerial distance from the Jammu airport to the international border is 14km.
