Vitamin C Serums (According to Reddit)
So guys today I’m talking about vitamin C because it’s a very popular ingredient at the moment it’s a very popular topic. And also have so much confusion about vitamin C.
And there’s so much information out there especially on Google as well as YouTube but it’s kind of confusing so today I hope I can clear a few things up.
So hopefully you don’t have to read another article on vitamin C here.
So Hey everybody I’m Sara and welcome back to beauty hangama where we talk about skin care, Home decor, astrology, and some recipes Tips.
Those are Few Topic That We'll going To Cover In this Article

Top 9+ Best Vitamin C Serum at very affordable price according to Reddit
So, guys, as you know Reddit is really a good community and for around past 1 month I’m really researching on Reddit about vitamin C and I really find some vitamin c serum
and from that serum some of them I already used and
now I’m going to talk about affordable vitamin C serums because you know what you guys have been asking for this for a very long time.
there are only so many vitamin C’s I can try to give you a real opinion about I spend about a month and a half trying these at least that way I can actually form a real opinion about it.
There are some vitamin C’s that never made it onto my list that I just didn’t get a chance to try.

But as of right now these are the ones I want to share. I know there are tons of other vitamin C type products out there but I think you get the most bangs for your buck when you purchase a vitamin C serum.
Specifically for vitamin C as an ingredient. Because there are a lot of factors when it comes to vitamin C and how effective it’s going to be for your skin.
so I really think it can be very hard to decide what makes a good vitamin C.
because a lot of the time I hear from people saying that they tried a vitamin C and either it irritated their skin
or it just did nothing to their skin or they didn’t know to look for and they didn’t see any change in their skin.
And I think that’s because while there are lots of vitamin C type products out there on the market there are only so many that are actually going to do something for your skin.
This article specifically has taken a while for me to put together and it’s because I’ve been trying
so many different vitamin C serums for you and when it comes to the affordable ones I’ve had a really hard time finding nice affordable ones.
and I think it’s because formulation matters it really does l ascorbic acid is the most studied of the vitamin C type ingredients out there it’s the one that they show does all of the really good stuff for your skin.
it helps brighten your skin it fights free radicals it helps to even promote collagen growth in your skin in a different way than retinol does but it makes your skin stronger and antioxidants in general are just really good for your skin over time.
Because you want to be able to fight the free radicals a lot of people also find that it helps their skin tone and when I say their skin tone, I mean not just evening the skin tone.
but it helps with that pigmentation and even the feel of their skin and starts to get a little bit better the problem with l-ascorbic acid is that it’s very unstable and so that means that it can oxidize very quickly.
And you don’t know if you get any results from the l-ascorbic acid a lot of the time you’ll see that vitamin C’s with l-ascorbic acid is also formulated with other antioxidants like ferulic acid and vitamin E.
And that’s because they’ve also found that l-ascorbic acid works even better and stays more stable when it’s paired with those kinds of ingredients.
So you want to look for something like that packaging also matters because l-ascorbic acid can be so unstable.
And if you do find that your vitamin C has oxidized that means that they start to turn brown it doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily going to damage your skin.
Though I have heard that it can change the color and tone of your skin if it does oxidize too much.
so that’s something to keep in mind I haven’t heard of that happening to anybody that I know and it hasn’t happened to me
but what it does really mean is that the l-ascorbic acid might not do anything for your skin at the very least.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you want to find 10 to 20% l-ascorbic acids in your serums when you’re purchasing it to actually have some kind of effect.
If you find that the product doesn’t actually list how much vitamin C is in the product I wouldn’t be too worried about it.
It either means that it’s just a very gentle maybe introductory form of vitamin C or maybe it’s a vitamin C derivative which we’ll talk about a little bit later in this article.
I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with vitamin C derivatives I just think that there aren’t as many studies on them as l-ascorbic acid.
I will say it sometimes vitamin C at higher percentages at 20% or even higher than that would be a little bit too much in my opinion
but when it’s a really high percentage of vitamin C it can get more acidic and more potentially irritating for the skin.
so that’s also something to keep in mind I tend to steer closer to like the 10% vitamin C and I find that that does plenty for my skin but you can get it in higher percentages.
Alright so let’s get to the serums the first one is this it is by Vichy and yes you guys this is an ampule which we will talk about later I love this it’s the Vichy lift active peptides see ampoules.
It comes in the pack. This is the most straightforward product in this article with just 10 ingredients.
Vitamin C is l-ascorbic acid and it also has humectants like peptides glycerin and hyaluronic acid and there’s also the Vichy mineral water which is really soothing and healing for the skin.
What I like about these ones is that they’re in an ampule and these ampules are great because it keeps it fresh until you open one of these.
whenever you purchase l-ascorbic acid you want to make sure it’s in packaging that it will keep it fresh and keep it from oxidizing these ampules are a great example of that
because they stay fresh until you pop it open they’re made out of glass and they also have the brownish tone to them.
This is also really important from keeping the Sun out I also store these in my drawers so they almost never get to see the Sun.
but you also want to make sure that you’re not exposing it to air you don’t want to expose your l-ascorbic acid to error as much as possible because that also contributes to the oxidizing of the vitamin c.
So these stay fresh up to 48 hours once you pop them open and It comes with a little applicator that you just rinse out once you’re done with an ampule and then you pop it.
On to the next one so what you do is you just pop it open and even though it has ingredients like hyaluronic acid in it. I find that this is a very nice consistency.
it feels very watery very liquidy instead of sticky like a vitamin C so it just feels like you’re putting on something really light on your skin and it works really well.
this one also happens to be fragrance-free and I think actually all of the vitamin C’s that I’m going to talk about today is fragrance-free
not because that’s what I was looking for but they just happen to be the better ones that I tried.
Next up is this one by nutriyum it is their vitamin C serum 22%. what I like about this one is the vitamin C is encapsulated
so that means it’s going to be a little bit more gentle on the skin I also think that there’s a better formulation happening here there’s a little bit more technology happening.
I know that 22% might sound like its too strong but this product actually has a blend of sodium ascorbate phosphate which is a vitamin C derivative and not irritating.
All of that is encapsulated in gold if you saw gold on the ingredients list you might have wondered what that was therefore it actually is a really good preservative system for vitamin C and it also makes it less irritating for the skin.
So at 22% this actually isn’t bad for the skin because I have other vitamins C with 20% l-ascorbic acid or even higher than that and those tend to irritate my skin this one does not actually irritate my skin.
The other thing I like about it is the other ingredients in this it has an antioxidant called glutathione in it which is also very good for the skin.
It’s actually naturally found in our skin but we start to lose it over time and glutathione is really good.

Because it’s another antioxidant it helps to stabilize the vitamin C even more but it also helps to brighten your skin it’s naturally found in our skin.
But we tend to lose it over time just like a lot of the other things that make our skin look beautiful we lose it over time
and so you can actually find products like this one that have ingredients like glutathione is just a really wonderful formulation.
and it does not irritate my skin it also has vitamin E it also has hyaluronic acid
and what I think it feels like is kind of like a mix between a really nice hydrating serum with a little bit of an oily feel to it as you start to put it on.
It absorbs nicely into your skin I also just think this one is a very interesting one because I tend to not find such interesting formulations.
so I like this one they also have another vitamin C that mixes ingredients like salicylic acid and retinol in it.

1. what is a vitamin C Serums?
First of all so obviously it’s a vitamin C ingredient within skin care or ascorbic acid as it’s sometimes labeled it really is an anti-aging ingredient primarily.
And mainly that you’ll find within serums and moisturizers but it has lots of other good benefits as well such as skin brightening and more will go into in a minute.
It’s one of the most powerful antioxidants to protect your skin against environmental factors free radical damage aging wrinkles all that kind of stuff.
So you can see kind of why is a very popular ingredient because it’s a good all-rounder. there are several types of vitamin C that you’ll see on the market and labeled on your ingredients.

They all pretty much do the same thing some are more potent than others and some are better for particular skin types and it is worth noting that.
When it’s in its purest form stay in the serum when antioxidants are exposed to and liked and err too frequently they break down so they kind of like oxidize.
So it’s best to keep these products in airtight packaging in a cupboard in their boxes keep them out of light.
2. What are the benefits of vitamin C Serum?
Pretty much everything anything you want it to do it can pretty much do according to a lot of brand’s claims and also our varying opinions, especially between dermatologists.
Dermatologists bloggers as well some people think vitamin C is amazing some people think it doesn’t do anything at all.
And that was stupid for using it here are some of the main benefits that people claim that see gifts and what I personally experienced as well from using vitamin C.
vitamin C can fade hyper pigmentation this is a big one for me so that’s the brown spots dark spots leftover from acne sun damage
scars all that kind of stuff basically this is because it can slow down melanin production.
And melanin is what obviously makes your skin that bit darker so at least uh fading these dark spots and evening out your skin tone.
As I mentioned it’s a very popular anti-aging ingredient and this because it can promote collagen production.
So OC collagen is tied to the firmness of the skin elasticity of our skin as well but as we get older
obviously the collagen production kind of just gets a little bit like easy it’s like I’m not doing that anymore.
So using this vitamin C re-boost that collagen production and make our skin feel a little lot tighter and firmer.
it can protect you against sun damage so sun damage is caused by free radicals an or C vitamin C is full of antioxidants so basically this kind of stops the free radicals in their track and renders them useless.
Yes, it can reverse and prevent sun damage.
Redness It also reduces redness as well so this Missy is an anti-inflammatory
so whether you’ve got that redness from sun damage or maybe bad acne or you just I don’t know like a little bit like puffy and itchy.
So yes bitumen C can reduce the appearance of this redness and whilst.
Vitamin C doesn’t really sound like a calming ingredient it can be kind of.
3. How do we use a vitamin C Serum?
So guys for apply vitamin C serum on your face you just flow 2-3 simple step that is
Firstly Clean your face with your face cleanser
Take a few drops in your palm
Then Apply this vitamin C on your face and mentally massage it on your face. That’s it
Where did we find it?
So obviously one of the most popular ways is in a serum serums usually come in the bottle usually a glass bottle and they come with a little dropper pipette I believe it’s called.
And this is because serums are highly concentrated.
So this is where you’ll usually find vitamin C in its kind of not purest form, but the most potent form is within a serum.
It has more of treatment feel to it and it’s something you’d use like after a tone in an essence before your moisturizers
and saying that moisturizers also contain a vitamin C they’ve kind of been in moisturizers for ages.

But because it’s become such a popular ingredient and vitamin C is kind of a buzzword nowadays a lot of moisturizers are advertising more that their products contain vitamin C.
These moisturizers are usually good for daily use twice a day. So the dosage of vitamin C dosage I guess we’re calling it vitamin C isn’t as strong as maybe a serum.
And in the moisturizer kind of gives you that brightening effect of your skin as well.
And obviously the anti-aging benefits are in there so you’ll find vitamin C in a lot of like anti-wrinkle creams.
There are a lot of exfoliates as well especially peeling gels but I don’t really see the point in that like I don’t there are no benefit exfoliators.
And of course, are in cleansers and this gives you that brightening effect as well.
Also it can have a soothing factor when it’s within a cleanser.
5. who can use a vitamin C Serum?
When it comes to skin type vitamin C is kind of good for all skin types depending on what way it’s used and what kind of form of vitamin C you are using.
Vitamin C serums especially can have like a tingling burning effect on your skin not burning but are very it’s kind of warm.
So if you have very sensitive skin or you don’t want your skin to feel warm and hot for no real reason you may want to look for vitamin C.
Magnesium asked or bill phosphate science this is the type of vitamin C that kind of avoids acting as stinging sensation and is kind of good for irritated skin sensitive skin.
6. when can you use vitamin C Serum?
This really comes down to what kind of vitamin C product you’re using, for example, cleansers use every day once-twice a day moisturizers the same kind of thing.
And it’s even in sunscreens now as well you can use vitamin C in the morning and at night.
There is kind of like counter-arguments for both as to why you wouldn’t want to use in the morning why you wouldn’t want to use at night.
Again everything with vitamin C is kind of up in the air but if you’re going to use it in the morning you have to use a strong factor SPF. Which I feel is stupid there’s no point I don’t know it is stupid.
Now some people even recommend using a vitamin C serum in the morning and in the evening in my personal opinion I don’t see why you’d need to or want to do that.
first of all victim in C doesn’t feel amazing on the skin so it’s not something I personally would want to put on then walk out in public with. it also has a brightening effect, to begin with, it
makes you look very very shy like overly shiny to the point where I wouldn’t want to go out because people would be staring at me.

So and that’s another reason I personally use this at night because the benefits that you see from vitamin C are very long-lasting.
So you could use it in the evening the benefits will last all throughout the day until you use it.
Again the shine the brightness the instant kind of water that it gives you I think maybe twice day is overdoing it
especially if you use other active ingredients which we’ll go into in a minute.
A a lot of people say that using a vitamin C serum is good during the day
because it boosts the benefits of your SPF your sunscreen but if you’re using a factor 50 PA +++ you don’t really need it boosting.
Because it’s the highest you can get so it seems a bit redundant to me I read it that there’s any point.
so yeah let’s get to the bit that everyone’s talking about the moment is what you can mix vitamin C with
and what you can this is kind of important because this is what initially put me off using vitamin C.
Because it makes it feel so complicated to use and almost dangerous to use as well. it sounds like a chemical that’s going to react instantly.
If you use it with the wrong thing so an obvious one I think for everyone is cheese and has code doesn’t use it together.
It’s just the idea of it’s over-exfoliate you don’t need to really use more than one active ingredient in your skincare routine.
If any so it’s a bit you know there’s no need to do that so I usually do AHA & BHA in the morning. if I’m going to use vitamin C in the evening.
When they’re to give in cosmetics they are stabilized and pretty much absolutely fine to use together.
I can actually have amazing benefits for your skin like all the anti-aging stuff.
So firmness to wrinkles brightness and dullness especially so this should really be in the do mixed a section.
Also, it said not to mix it with benzoyl peroxide again and not these whole articles like another ingredient that’s not really there’s no real backing behind it.
other than a few opinions and studies if that makes sense it’s that idea again that mixing the 2 together renders both of them useless benzoyl peroxide.
so don’t use it any way I am not a lot of medicated acne skincare so what your doctors will prescribe you what the doctors tried to prescribe me
when I was younger not for me very drying for me so yeah I would avoid it.
7. Is it safe to mix vitamin C with Other ingredients?
Safe to mix with vitamin C is vitamin E basically just a shitload of good antioxidants on your skin so yeah you can mix more but I read Oh fill you need to know this
because you don’t use be mixing all these things together anyway as far as like your skin goes you need like calm down and active ingredients.
I know they’re very popular at the moment and lots of people want to use them and get the amazing benefits from them.
because their benefits from active ingredients are incredible but you know use one active ingredients in the morning use one in the evening there’s no need to be mixing all this stuff together and going crazy.
My Final Word
So guys I hope I’m able to share with you a good and bunch of information about vitamin C serum.
That’s my opinion anyway so here are my recommended vitamin c serums as I mentioned I was kind of scared of you not scared
